Synagogues are iconic institutions of Jewry, religious and communal centres, places of gathering and learning, but above all, during the long painful exile of Abraham and Moses' offspring, as wellas in their current worldwide Diaspora, synagogues have been, fair and wide, reminders of their supreme model, Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem. They are holy shrines of Judaism's most revered religious items. Erected by the nation which seemsto have concentrated human intellicence and culture to their highest degree throughout global history, synagogues have taken the stylistic applearance of their environment, from Gothis, Baroque or Secession in the Sepharidic West, to the spacial solutions of the Ashkenazi East.
